Easy Sweets Along the Nankai Line
Along the Nankai Line, you’ll find plenty of sweet spots just steps from the stations. From donuts and candy apples to chocolate and gelato, a wide variety awaits—from long-established favorites to trendy newcomers. Whether you drop by alone or with friends and family, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a sweet, happy moment.
Just a 2-minute walk from Sakaihigashi Station, located in the Sakai Ginza shopping street in front of the station, Aloha Donuts Coffee Stand is a specialty shop for Hawaii's local treat Malasada. The classic Malasada is freshly fried bread coated with powdered sugar.
The shop stands out with its blue exterior, reminiscent of Hawaii. The owner, impressed by the deliciousness of Malasada, opened the shop to share it. Various flavored Malasadas are displayed at the storefront.
Although strongly associated with Hawaii, Malasada originally comes from Portugal as a traditional pastry. The dough is kneaded and fermented to create a fluffy and chewy texture, so light you can easily enjoy several pieces.
YAON -Candy Apple- is a specialty candy apple shop about a 3-minute walk from Fukai Station. It is Sakai’s first dedicated candy apple store.
“YAON” means the sound of a cat in Korean and is marked with a cat logo. Whether for takeout or enjoying inside the store, you can savor gem-like fruit candies.
Apples used have high sugar content and freshness. They are coated with a thin layer of candy, and the abundance of bubbles shows their freshness. Seasonal fruits also appear, and staff cut them into easy-to-eat sizes on the spot. Unlike typical street candy, YAON allows full enjoyment of the fruit’s deliciousness. When taking home, staff provide guidance on cutting. Apples last about three days uncut.
Located just steps from Nankai Namba Station, Venchi Namba Parks Store is on the 2nd floor of Namba Parks. This long-established chocolate and gelato brand has over 140 years of history.
Venchi stands out with a luxurious exterior and glamorous gold-themed interior. The store features an eat-in space for customers.
Venchi originated in Piedmont, Italy, founded in 1878 by Silviano Venchi. Chocolates are still made in Italy, while gelato is freshly made in Japan using authentic Italian recipes.
The Namba Parks store offers 16 flavors with three sizes: Piccolo, Regolare, and Grande. A wide variety of toppings are available. Staff are happy to provide recommendations if you are unsure what to order.
